The Day School at St. Matthews United Methodist Church has been a pillar in our community, providing quality child care for over 50 years. 

The COVID-19 crisis is having a negative impact on everyone, creating challenges for all. We wish to create the most positive environment for our children and their parents.  We continue to plan ways to enhance their days with a Christian curriculum and lesson plans offering diverse elements, including an array of social, physical and mental skills.  

Some of the Day School’s assets and recent enhancements are:

• STAFF:  Our committed teachers offer a TEAM approach, supporting the director and the guidelines of the school.  They love the children and it shows in their interactions. They stay after class to decorate their classroom or set up a new activity for the children.  They provide enhanced cleaning of the classrooms during the day, following government guidelines.   We are blessed to have the committed staff.
• NEW PLAYGROUND: The church has recently raised the funds and installed several pieces of new playground equipment.  We are excited about these new play pieces! 
• DIRECTOR:   Hawaii has a strong background in working with children.   She is now using ProCare, software that is specifically designed for Day School management.  You will experience a streamlined billing process, ease in making your weekly or monthly payments, touch-free check-in and check-out for your children, accessible school calendar, schedules, communication, etc.  Hawaii is always looking for new ideas for the classrooms and creates innovative activities to increase involvement for the children.  She has an excellent approach with the parents, and I receive compliments from them frequently.
• SCHOOL:  All guidelines from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the Texas Licensing Division of the Department of Human Services for COVID-19 are followed.  When the parents bring children to the Day School, the children’s check-in follows CDC guidelines.  Parents are currently not entering the school.  Children eat in their own classrooms.  Every effort will be made to prevent risk to the children.

Having a quality Day School on our campus is a blessing.  As we grow and provide unique activities for the children, we want you to know that “your children are our most important resource”.  It is an honor to be involved with a program that is laying groundwork for tomorrow’s individuals and families.  St. Matthews is a positive influence in our community and a valued participant.
